DIRECTORY OF TECHNOLOGIES FOR MANAGING FOOD WASTE
The Recycled Organics Unit website is widely accessed as a source
of information for organics recovery and processing across the globe.
The ROU has established the Manage
Food Waste internet directory of technologies that
businesses can use on-site to improve food waste management and
to increase the diversion of food wastes from landfill.

CRITERIA FOR INCLUSION ON THE REGISTER
Food waste is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions from landfills.
Government food waste reduction strategies aim to improve their
environmental performance by reducing and diverting food wastes
from landfill.
The online register will assist businesses to identify and access
technologies that can meet their needs. Technologies listed will
include:
- Maceration, dewatering and/or collection technologies,
- On-site composting, on-site worm farming (please note household
models are excluded, this is for commercial and/or industrial
sector, ie. businesses),
- Processes that produce animal feed,
- Gas and/or energy producing processes,
- Processes that reduce greenhouse emissions from the landfill
of food waste,
- Other types of technology that reduce or divert food wastes
from landfill that we don’t know about!
Businesses are demanding practical options and need an entry point
for information. The internet directory will promote access to technologies
via direct link to the commercial websites of relevant technology
supplier.
LIST YOUR TECHNOLOGY
Manufacturers and distributors of technologies are invited to respond
via the two page form from this webpage (see above). We need your
authorisation to publish product details, so the form has an authorisation
section which needs to be signed prior to returning.
The directory is updated regularly so return your completed form
as soon as possible for the next update.
