The Recycled Organics Unit has developed a
Guide to Selecting, Developing and Marketing Value-Added
Recycled Organics Products. This guide is available to
download for free.
The objective of this guide is to support government and
industry to accelerate the expansion of and markets for recycled
organics products. The expansion of markets for recycled organics
products will sustain and potentially increase the diversion
of compostable organic materials from landfill.
|
This guide provides a common language and will support industry
and government to work together to formulate and implement a strategic
approach to market development, and to assist industry to:
- Manufacture and sell existing products into existing markets
(market penetration);
- Manufacture and sell existing products into new markets (market
development);
- Develop new products and sell them into existing markets (new
product development);
- Develop new products and sell them into new markets (diversification);
- Identify existing and emerging markets for recycled organics
products;
- Identify market segments that display potential for recycled
organics products, and define technical, economic, regulatory,
agronomic and logistical factors that can influence the feasibility
of product manufacturing and the potential market for a new recycled
organic product;
- Undertake structured, quality and statistically-sound technical
and marketing research to identify market sensitivities and product
needs for specific customers and/or markets;
- Develop a performance specification and a product specification
to meet the needs of a particular market;
- Undertake a batch manufacture and validate the performance of
the product; and
- Undertake a user orientated cost/benefit analysis for the new
product to inform the profitable marketing of the product.
