The report outlines technology options available
in Australia and overseas, briefly evaluates their potential
performance, reviews steps in each process that are essential
to maintain process control, and site approvals/licensing
requirements that are specific to New South Wales.
The installation and management of an organics
management system requires careful planning and consideration
of the limitations of technologies currently on the market
place. Good process control and system management is needed
to ensure the organics processing system continues to
meet the objectives of the user(s) or organisation, and
that the quality of the surrounding environment is not
negatively impacted upon. Good process management involves
routine monitoring and maintenance to ensure that potential
negative impacts associated with poor management in the
form of odour and leachate, or through the attraction
of pests and vermin are minimised.
The report is a must for: prospective on-site
organics processors; experienced on-site processors; Resource
NSW project officers; local council waste management officers;
local council planning and approvals officers; government
policy makers; and environmental and waste educators.
