The use of recycled organics products in stormwater treatment applications for improving the quality of runoff at different points in a catchment is a recent novel development, and has the potential to grow into a significant and viable metropolitan market for recycled organics products.

A review of research on products incorporating recycled organics for use in integrated stormwater treatment applications has been prepared for Resource NSW to document the known performance of such products, and assist in the identification of barriers to the development of markets for these products.

Download the complete, comprehensive report:

The treatment of stormwater is an emerging market for recycled organics product blends, however, a key barrier to the use of recycled organics integrated stormwater treatment applications is the absence of a performance-based product standard. This report aims to inform a program for the development of performance-based product specifications for recycled organics products for stormwater treatment applications.

A background to the use of recycled organics in stormwater applications and the nature of stormwater in urban areas is provided. A literature review of recycled organics uses for stormwater installations is included detailing various applications, performance specifications and monitoring requirements and current installations in New South Wales are identified. Product information for available hardware and media are also included in the report.
