A) Can't find the resource you are looking for?

Did your search result in a ‘No matches’ message? Try these troubleshoots:

  • Make sure that the search terms correctly spelt.
  • Make sure you are using standard keyword terms. Use the Recycled Organics Dictionary & Thesaurus to check.
  • Do not use commas when typing in your search terms.
  • Try both abbreviated and non abbreviated forms of a name.
e.g. NSW EPA – New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority

Additionally, if you are using the Detailed search:

  • Make sure you have selected a Field from the drop down list on the left.
  • Have you selected the correct Field to search by? Check this table that explains the Field Descriptions.
  • Which Field Description did you use to enter contact details? Note that your contacts could be classed as either Creator (i.e. author), Contributor (contributing author) or Organisation (publisher). You will need to conduct a new searches for each.
  • Search terms must be selected from a specified checklist for the following Fields: Type (format of the resource); Rights (degree of availability to the public); Scale (size of technology described); Waste Stream; Waste Composition.
  • Note that the Detailed search is an AND search. If you enter the same search terms in both right hand boxes; the database will only retrieve records containing both terms.
e.g. A Detailed search for EPA NSW as the “Author”, AND the “Contributor” will only retrieve records with EPA NSW as both author and contributor.

B) Did your search retrieve too few records?

  • Expand your search by entering additional keywords (separated by a space).
  • Expand your Simple search by using the Boolean search operator ‘OR’.
e.g. audit AND food OR garden
  • Use the additional search options.
e.g. select ‘all resources’ rather than just ‘online resources’.

C) Did your search retrieve too many records?

  • Refine your Simple search by entering additional keywords (separated by a space).
  • Narrow your Simple search by using Boolean search operators: AND,OR, NOT
  • Try a Detailed Search.
  • Use additional search options: search by Availability or Type of information resource.

D) Having trouble contacting the server database?

Try again in 5 minutes.

E) Having trouble printing www.rolibrary.com pages onto A4?

If your printouts are running off an A4 page, you have three options:

Option 1. Modify your printer setups through the internet browser. For example, in Netscape or Internet Explorer, select “Page Setup” under the File menu and minimise the left and right margins.

Option 2. Use the "print friendly version" link that is provided on the detailed search result pages. Print out from the new page that appears.

Option 3. Save your search as a text file and print the saved search results from a word processing program.
