A 'Composting Science for Industry' lecture is delivered yearly to postgraduate Masters of Environmental Management students at The University of New South Wales by the Recycled Organics Unit.

The two-part lecture provides an overview of the basic areas of composting science relating to management of temperature, oxygen, water and physical composition of the mix. The second-part covers other areas of composting science, including nutrient management, pH and processing time / curing:

  • Composting Science Part 1
    1) Introduction
    2) Temperature management
    3) Importance of oxygen
    4) Water availability
    5) Physical properties of the compost mix
  • Composting Science Part 2
    1) Nutrients required for rapid composting
    2) Role of pH and other nutrients
    3) Processing time and curing
